Sr. IT Technician

Position overview

Performs end-user support and installs/maintains personal computer hardware and software utilizing hands on and remote resolution capabilities. The Sr. IT Technician is a highly experienced Desktop Support Specialist, that can troubleshoot a multitude of issues that range from desktops, laptops, network, telecom, video conferencing, VoIP, mobility and server or infrastructure problems.

Key Responsibilities of the Job:  

•          Installs and configures personal computer systems

•          Must be able to communicate and work effectively with others in and outside of the IT department

•          Manages IT Incident queue and has the ability to work level I / II / III technician problems as needed

•          Understanding of networking principles

•          Operational knowledge of Active Directory and Organizational Units

•          Identify, evaluate, and validate new hardware and software opportunities for company benefit, with an eye on cost savings

•          Knowledge and experience with System Center Configuration Manager 2008 or above (SCCM) and its components; Install, configure, monitor, support, optimize, and administer

•           Maintain and support Windows Active Directory domain, ensuring security and availability of user logins, ACL permissions, Group Policies, and network printing, according to corporate policies and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements

•          Create and maintain documentation for company Knowledge Base, as it relates to both end-users and IT staff, using appropriate and effective communication techniques for both

•          Provide guidance and training in all helpdesk and site services related activities to other junior team members

•          Strong root cause and trending identification skillset to implement solutions mitigating issues within the environment

•          Performs on-site or remote desktop support of end-users and remote offices

•          Interacts with vendors for purchasing IT related goods


JOB REQUIREMENTS

Required Education/Training:

 •          Minimum of four years relevant experience, supporting information systems operations.

 

Required Certifications/License/Special Skills:

 •          Experience with Microsoft SCCM/Remote Desktop

•          Experience with RemedyForce and RemedyForce ITIL processes

•          Experience with current Microsoft operating systems and applications in an Enterprise environment

•          Experience working with and supporting mobility products; cellular phones, tablets

•          Experience working with and supporting Apple products, Mac Books, iPad

 


 

Required Work Experience:

 •          4+ Years’ experience in IT Relationship Customer Support

•          4+ Years desktop/laptop/mobility hardware maintenance, repair and troubleshooting

•          4+ Years desktop/laptop/mobility software maintenance, repair and troubleshooting

•          4+ Years’ experience maintaining Windows Operating systems in an Enterprise environment

•          4+ Years’ experience supporting and maintaining Microsoft Office Suite

•          4+ Years’ experience maintaining printers, mobility solutions and phone systems

•          4+ Years’ experience with Active Directory, including Group Policy, Users and Computer objects, network printing

•          Experience with CUCM, Cisco Unity, UCCX, Cisco Video Endpoints (SX and MX series), Lifesize Video, WebEx a plus

•          Knowledge of networking concepts, such as DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, VLANs a plus

•          Experience in a change-controlled environment a plus


WORKING CONDITIONS

 •          Must work onsite at Luminex office at least 90% of the time

•          Travel may be required approximately: No travel is required

•          Work is normally performed in a typical office work environment

•          Frequent use of personal computer, copiers, printers, and telephones

•          Frequent standing, walking, sitting, listening, and talking

•          Frequent work under stress, as a team member, and in direct contact with others

•          Lifting/Use of Strength is Medium (20 to 50 pounds)

•          Climbing on the job is required:   Occasionally--Up to 33% of the time

•          Kneeling on the job is required:  Occasionally--Up to 33% of the time

•          Reaching on the job is required:  Occasionally--Up to 33% of the time

•          Stooping on the job is required:  Occasionally--Up to 33% of the time

•          Vision (Color) on the job is required: Constantly--More than 66% of the time
